South Asian Contemporary Art: A Dialogue on Growth and Preservation

Asia Society India Centre and KALA hosted a conversation between renowned art collectors Jaiveer Johal (India) and Khurram Kasim (Pakistan) on February 11 at the Sapumal Foundation in Colombo.

The event aimed to foster the growth of South Asian modern and contemporary art by encouraging discussions on collection, preservation, and patronage.

Johal and Kasim shared insights into their journey as collectors, emphasizing their role in supporting artists and fellow collectors.

“The culture of museum-going will thrive when dedicated spaces are created,” one speaker noted, underlining the importance of archiving, publishing, and engaging in cultural discourse to elevate contemporary art.
