Expert Committee Appointed for Beira Lake Cleanup
A 12-member expert committee has been appointed to oversee the cleaning and development of Beira Lake, as announced by Urban Development Minister Anura Karunathilaka.
Plans are in place to halt sewage inflow from 21 channels, including four major ones, by the end of the year.
Additionally, excessive algae growth has worsened the odor and discoloration of the lake. The committee will implement internationally recognized solutions to restore water quality and improve environmental conditions.
