The Petroleum Distributors' Association has warned that if the Sri Lanka Petroleum Corporation does not reverse its decision to cancel the 3% discount previously provided, a nationwide fuel shortage could occur.
In protest against this decision, the association withdrew from fuel distribution operations from midnight yesterday. Additionally, the association’s vice chairman, Kusum Chandanayake, stated that fuel supply to government hospitals and institutions will now be provided only on a payment basis.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Petroleum Corporation has assured that there will be no fuel shortage and has urged the public not to panic unnecessarily.
