Connect Youth 2025 Awareness Walk Marks National Youth Conference & International Youth Day in Batticaloa




Batticaloa witnessed a vibrant display of youth unity and enthusiasm today as the 19th National Federation of Sri Lanka Youth Clubs celebrated its milestone with a special awareness walk under the inspiring theme “Connect Youth 2025.” The event was held in line with the National Youth Conference and International Youth Day, bringing together young men and women from across the district in a remarkable show of solidarity and community spirit.


The awareness walk began at the historic Arasady Junction, a well-known landmark in Batticaloa town, where participants gathered early in the morning, carrying banners, placards, and flags promoting youth empowerment, leadership, and unity. From there, the walk proceeded along the bustling Main Street, attracting the attention of residents, shopkeepers, and passersby, before reaching its final destination at the scenic Batticaloa Gandhi Park.


Organized as part of the national celebrations, the initiative aimed to raise awareness among young people about the importance of networking, community service, leadership development, and cultural exchange. The theme “Connect Youth 2025” was chosen to highlight the need for stronger collaboration among youth across Sri Lanka, especially as the country works towards sustainable development and inclusive growth.


The event saw the participation of over 250 energetic youths representing 14 regional federations from different parts of the Batticaloa district. Each group brought its unique identity, showcasing cultural pride while reinforcing the message of unity. Among these, the Manmunai South West Regional Federation stood out for its active involvement, with a large number of its members taking part in the walk.


Participants walked in unison, chanting slogans and engaging with the public to spread messages of peace, harmony, and youth-led change. The streets of Batticaloa came alive with the sound of drums, traditional music, and cheers, making the event not only an awareness initiative but also a celebration of youth power.


Speaking about the significance of the walk, organizers emphasized that young people are the driving force behind social transformation. They highlighted that platforms like the National Youth Conference provide opportunities for youths to share ideas, build networks, and actively contribute to the nation’s progress.
